Eating With a Beard: Tips and Tricks for a Mess-Free Meal
June 22, 2023However, enjoying a meal can present some unique challenges. From crumbs getting caught in your beard to the occasional sauce mishap, eating with a beard requires some finesse.
In this blog, I'll give you a few tips to make sure you don't end up making a mess of yourself every time you eat.
Now let me be clear right out of the gate, you do NOT need to avoid certain foods, we believe you should eat what you want.
What you need to consider, is eating in a slightly different way by using cutlery for some foods you might not normally use them for.
Cutlery is a fancy word for utensils aka a fork and knife, and they'll make eating much easier with a beard and mustache. They allow you to guide the food into your mouth without coming in contact with your beard.
Yes, it will feel weird at first to use a fork and knife on certain foods, but if the goal is to stay as clean as possible, they're a must.
For example, this can apply to eating burgers and sandwiches. Now, you don't have to cut each individual bite, but cut your burger in half, or quarters, so you can attack it on the corners which is much easier to do without a mess.
This technically can work on wings, and just about anything else if you want to take it to the extreme.
The next thing I recommend is to take smaller bites. Not only is this more polite to those you're sharing a meal with, but it will reduce the odds that your meal will end up all over your beard.
Now, I really don't want to overcomplicate this because at the end of the day, sometimes you just gotta dig in and enjoy some ribs or other delicious foods that are just gonna end up on your beard.
That is perfectly ok.
I repeat...That is perfectly ok.
Just keep a napkin or twelve nearby, and clean yourself up as you go. Wash and condition your beard later and you are good as new.
When it comes to drinking, it's a pretty simple solution as well.
Use a straw whenever you can, and if you are enjoying an ice cold beer, rest the glass on your bottom lip and open wide as if you are chugging instead of sipping and you will be in the clear.
For those of you with a big stache, use your mustache wax to pull the hairs away or consider trimming the area right by your upper lip to get some clearance.
Ok guys, that's all I got for you today.
