Twenty years from now.
November 08, 2021"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did." - Mark Twain
When was the last time you did not do something that you really wanted to do?
Today? Yesterday? Last week? Last month?
Unfortunately, the answer for most of us is all-the-damn-time.
We hold ourselves back and play it safe.
We don't do what we want to do because we're so focused on what could go wrong, we don't even think about what might go right.
We give in to fear and doubt and are afraid of failing.
Afraid of looking stupid
Afraid of making mistakes.
Afraid of being rejected.
Or the worst of all, afraid of not being enough .
So, we play it safe and find all the reasons (excuses) why we don’t do what we (desperately) want to do…
And then we tell ourselves it’s not the right time.
Or it’s really not that important right now…
We can just do it later.
Or once we achieve (fill in the black), then we'll do it.
Whatever the reason (excuse) is, as Twain says, playing it safe will always be our biggest disappointment.
The regret of not doing what we want is a far greater disappointment (failure) than going after it with everything we have and coming up short.
Because life passes us by, either way, and the most difficult pills to swallow are the “what ifs” and the “should haves.”
So, next time you face one of those decisions that challenge you far beyond your comfort zone...
LEAN INTO IT.
EMBRACE IT.
FACE IT HEAD-ON.
AND BE WILLING TO FAIL MISERABLY!
Because every time you fail, you learn.
And over time, learning compounds into experience and experience will eventually take you where you wanna go!
Success in life is a result of good decisions. Good decisions are usually the result of experience, and experience is usually the result of making a lot of bad decisions.
Therefore, the "formula" for success is being willing to fail over and over until you learn how to succeed.
Because anything worth doing is worth doing really bad until you learn how to do it well.
So get out there, be bold, take action, make mistakes, fail in a fantastic fashion, and use it to learn, grow and become the best you can be.
You're capable of incredible things and we are here alongside you every step of the way!
Until next time,
Live Brave. Live Bold. Live Bearded.
P.S. Thank you for being on this journey with us! We truly appreciate you.
