Looking for an incredible Beard Oil Recipe?

Of course you are or you wouldn't be reading this!

Lucky for you we’ve sourced some of the best and put them in one place for your convenience.

If you aren’t familiar with beard oil and all it’s benefits, I’d suggest you read our Best Beard Oils Guide to learn how beard oil will help you look and feel your best.

So let’s get straight to it…

BEARD OIL RECIPE CHECKLIST:

Carrier Oils

There are many oils to chose from when considering creating your base oil, but we highly recommend you choose a base oil comprised of carrier oils that will closely mimic the sebum oil your skin produces naturally.

PRO TIP: After our research, we recommend Argan, Jojoba and Grape Seed for your base oils for their ability to match the molecular structure similar to your natural sebum oils, and the way they blend together to soften and nourish the skin and hair.

This will allow the oils to absorb into your skin and hair better, rather than just sitting on the surface and rubbing off on anything your beard touches (cell phone, hands, wife/girlfriend etc.).

The following are the most commonly used for beard oil base blends:

  • Jojoba
  • Argan
  • Grape Seed
  • Sweet Almond
  • Coconut
  • Castor
  • Apricot Kernel
  • Hemp

Essential Oils

These are the oils that will make your beard smell like you’ve been trekking through the woods or sitting next to a campfire all night. The combinations are endless and this is where your personal preference comes into play.

PRO TIP: Essential oils all have different characteristics from helping you relax to serving as a bug repellant, so keep that in mind when considering your essentials!

***WARNING*** Essential oils are extremely potent and if you’re not very careful when mixing they can be overpowering and quickly ruin an entire batch of beard oil.

STORAGE

Well you need to put it somewhere, right? You will likely want to try a different beard oil recipe from time to time, so picking up a few is always a good idea.

We highly recommend a 1oz amber glass bottle for your oil as it will protect if from harsh UV rays and preserve the quality of the oil much longer.

PRO TIP: Avoid blue and clear bottles at all costs as they allow blue light to penetrate and oxidize your oil.

Tongs

We recommend sterilizing your storage bottles before filling and you’ll need these to pull out of the boiling water.

Eye Dropper

You’ll need to extract the oils and measure the doses out for your beard oil recipes.

Funnels

May seem like common sense here, but these little guys will come in handy so you don’t make a mess of your kitchen counter.

Funnels

Glass Graduated Cylinders

Precision is crucial when you are mixing your different beard oil recipes. You want to find that balance of a strong and noticeable note, but not something that slaps your friends in the face from across the room.

READY TO MAKE SOME BEARD OIL?

1. Sterilize your storage bottles
  • You can quickly do this by tossing them into water and bringing it into a boil. Remove with the tongs and dry thoroughly with a paper towel.
2. Create your base carrier oil blend.
  • Check each beard oil recipe for proportions of each carrier oil called for (or create a base you prefer).
  • Use a funnel to fill the glass graduated cylinder to portion out the proper amount of carrier oils to complete your base oil.
3. Fill your bottle
  • Remove top from your now sterilized (amber) bottle.
  • Use funnel to fill bottle with your carrier base oil.
4. Add the essential oils into the bottle.
  • Again, be extremely careful here! Different beard oil recipes call for different amounts and even one extra drop will have a dramatic affect on the note of your oil.
6. Shake the bottle to allow the oils to mix.
7. Enjoy!

PRO TIP: Finding a base oil that closely matches your sebum oil and the perfect amount of shine and consistency, as well as moisturizing characteristics can be VERY difficult. This is why we spent months with top chemists here in the US to get our percentages just right.
