Beard Implants & Transplants Explained

Ok let’s face it, not all of us are bearded equally, but a beard transplant? Let’s be honest here. Beard Envy does exist. I at times see a beard of epic proportions and compliment it while being slightly envious. Some of us are blessed with wicked thick beards, while others aren’t. When I grew my first beard, it certainly didn’t grow in the way my beard does today. I have friends who aren’t blessed by the Beard Gods and for this reason they stick with the Johnny Depp look and keep the stache and chin hair rather than attempting a poorly executed full beard. Ok..enough of me ranting about how ridiculous this even sounds…for those of you who are not aware of this option…I’ll share with you a little more detailed information on what a beard transplant is and details about the procedure.

Beard Implants & Transplants Explained

Beard Implant Before and After

The global healthcare and medical networking organization Medigo is here to help those follicularly-challenged grow a face sweater. Check these beard transplant before and after results above. According to Medigo’s website, beard transplant procedures have increased 600% between 2004 and 2014. That’s insane! Medigo does believe in beards, as everyone should. Their research shows that two thirds of women prefer a bearded look and a whopping 82% agree that the bearded men look more masculine. We all know these facts to be true so it’s no wonder there is a market for ways to increase your beard density.

Beard Transplant Stats

As you can see from their chart, this beard transplant procedure ranges in price from about $3,000 to $7,000 depending on how large the area is that needs to be filled in. It’s hard to believe beards are simply a fad if people are willing to go at such lengths to achieve an optimal beard.

The Procedure:

Medigo’s Online Marketing Manager Stefan Kingham says,

The doctor extracts hair follicles from the donor site and implants them elsewhere. Concerning beard transplants in particular, it’s very common for the donor site to be located at the side or back of the head, and there are two ways in which these hairs can be extracted: Through FUE (follicular hair extraction) or FUT (follicular unit transplant).”

Unless you are the .01% who grows a perfect beard, I’m sure you wouldn’t mind yours being thicker. We all do. Including me! However, I would NOT recommend going as far as a beard transplant.
