When is Facial Hair Considered a Beard?
January 09, 2020Whether you just decided to put the razor down and grow a beard, or you've been bearded for years, at some point you've probably wondered when a beard is really considered a bead?
At what length must your facial hair be at to be worthy of being recognized as a beard?!
By definition, a beard is "hair growing on the chin and lower cheeks of the face". Some would argue that hairs on the neck classify as well.
If you do a quick google search you'll see all sorts of different answers, some of which are quite entertaining.
What is considered a beard?
"When you can run your hand through it and the hair is over your fingers."
"A beard is soft to the touch. So facial hair is considered a beard once you get past the stubble phase and your hairs soften to the touch.
"5 millimeters in length" - That's pretty specific.
"When a girl leans in to kiss you and her face gets pressed on the side of the hairs instead of pressing on the cut ends of the hairs."
"When it no longer looks like you've just been forgetting to shave."
"If you have to ask, it's probably not a beard."
"The point at which the shape of your facial hair defines the shape of your face rather than your chin."
As you can imagine, the list goes on and on. We are all absolutely entitled to our own opinion so I can't argue any of these definitions...
So what do we think?
A friend of ours once said,
"a beard is a beard the day you decide to stop shaving".
If you make the conscious choice to GROW, at that point in time we consider you a bearded brother.
You see, beards come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. And every type of beard will require some form of grooming, trimming, and styling.
Short beards still need to use beard products . A beard trim on a longer beard can make a huge difference on how full it looks. And so on.
For us, we don't really care where you're at with your beard today. We're here to help you make your beard be the best it can be. Because we know when you look better, you will feel and be better.
