How To Stop Beard Itch (For Good)
The infamous beard itch...
The words beard and itch are often times used in the same sentence, and the last time I checked, that wasn't a good thing. In fact, I'd go out on a limb here and say the vast majority of men out there who have grown any kind of beard (or even stubble) know the feeling of an irritated, itchy face.
It comes on at different times for everyone and can be influenced by the climate you live in, and how dry your skin is naturally. But whether it's a week, two weeks or longer, without fail you wake up one morning just like any other day and BAM, your face is on fire!!
Ok, maybe that's a little dramatic, but if you've experienced anything like me you know, this is NOT a pleasant feeling. You try to wash your face to make sure it's clean but that only seems to make it worse. You know scratching it can't be making things better but you can't seem to stop...
So what do a lot of guys do? Shave.
Terrible I know...that's why we're here to help!
What Causes Beard Itch?
Beard itch is really a super simple problem with an even easier solution. All it really comes down to is that the skin under your beard is dry, very dry. Let me break this down for you so you can see why this happens.
Your body produces oil naturally called sebum oil. Before you grow your beard out, the oil your body produces naturally does a pretty good job at keeping your face moisturized and healthy. As you grow your beard, those hairs pull the oil away from your skin and into the hairs in attempt to keep the hairs healthy. Unfortunately your body can't produce enough oil naturally to keep your beard AND your skin moisturized. The result, dry skin.
If you don't moisturize the skin (as most of us have experienced), it becomes extremely dry, itchy, irritated and can flake and peel off. Let me tell you there is nothing worse than having your face shed skin all over the place.
The Solution
The solution to this problem is very simple. Beard Oil.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that beard oil is for guys with full beards. That's just not the case. Beard oil was actually not designed for your beard hairs at all, but for the skin under your beard.
It is essentially a blend of all natural oils that closely mimic the natural sebum oil your body produces, and it's designed to eliminate beard itch and irritation, while supporting better, healthier beard growth moving forward. You will want to apply it daily by rubbing into your hands, and then massaging onto the skin directly. Really work it through and then apply the excess to your beard hairs, hands or even your hair.
If you're new to the beard game, pick up a bottle of beard oil and use it after a few weeks of growth to keep the skin moisturized. This way you never have to experience the terrible feeling of having your face on fire.
If you already have a beard, we still recommend applying beard oil daily to keep the skin moisturized and promote better, healthier beard growth. As your beard hairs continue to grow they will continue to pull the natural oils away which can still cause itch even with months or years of growth.
