When it comes to choosing a beard style (and hairstyle) that works for you, sometimes you need to rely on the professionals. Our brother Brian hadn't cleaned up either in several months so he was in desperate need of some help.

Now finding a barber you can trust with your beard is NOT an easy thing to do. Unfortunately, you can't just stop into your closest barbershop and have a great experience. So we put our trust in our boy Parker at Sun Gold Tattoo and Barber in Scottsdale to make sure Brian was in good hands.

The results speak for themselves!

Brian went in looking like teen wolf, and came out looking like the bearded legend he is!

I know beard trimming at home can be difficult which is why we put together tutorials to give you tips to make it easy. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, do your research and find a barber who actually knows beards to have him/her help you.

If you're looking for a barber, do the following:

1. Do your research

In the world we live in today, you have all the information you need at your fingertips. Jump online and check out websites and social media for all the barbers in your area. Make sure they are posting beard trims with the end result of the trim so you can see they actually know what they are doing.

2. Find a barber, not a barbershop

Once you find a barbershop that does beards, you really need to take it one step further and find a specific barber who is good. The last thing you want to do is go into a shop and just take the next open seat. Chances are that seat is open because that barber isn't fully booked. So make sure to find a barber, and don't be afraid to wait for an opening with that specific barber.

3. Ask around

If you see a solid beard in your area, go introduce yourself and start a conversation. If he has a good local barber he will gladly share his contact info and pass more work along.

4. Be specific with what you want

Even if you find a skilled barber who knows beards, you still want to be VERY specific with the style you want. How much length do you want taken off? Faded at the sideburns? Squared corners or rounded? Find pictures of the beard style you want and show him exactly what you are looking for.

5. Speak up

If you start to feel uncomfortable with how the trim is going, speak up and stop the process. You are better off to speak your mind than to sit through 30 minutes of hell only to end up with a botched beard trim.
