Wild things happen when you Live Bearded...

I've always loved the creative process, specifically brainstorming ideas for new videos. Coming up with new concepts is a fun process because the inspiration for videos can come from so many different places.

Sometimes it comes from observation, from modeling others, during team collaborations, and sometimes from personal experiences. I believe some of the best ideas come from a combination of collaboration and experience.

Taking something that actually happened and then molding it through collaboration can create some hilarious (and ridiculous) ideas, and that's exactly what happened here.

The Back Story

In 2012 I took my first trip to Southeast Asia, and as I walked off the plane in Koh Samui, Thailand I instantly fell in love with the island, the culture, and the beauty. Coming from a small country town of 6,000 people in Oregon, I never imaged in my wildest dreams I would make it this far from home.

Yet, here I was, and I was loving every moment of it. The first few days I was on the go non-stop! From riding scooters and playing with elephants, to the incredible sunsets and beaches, it was a breathtaking experience.

By my 5th or 6th day, I decided it was time to get one of the "Thai massages" everyone was telling me about. The challenge was, I had no idea where to get started.

You see, the massage industry in Thailand is big, big business. So big in fact, it is one of their leading tourist attractions. There are massage salons everywhere, and the massage therapists (aka Thai girls) sit outside and wave at you when you walk or ride by.

Then, when you walk in they hand you a menu to choose the type of massage you want. Do you want a traditional Thai massage for $4? A Thai massage with oil for $5? A deep Thai massage for $6. The options were literally endless.

I walked around for about 30 minutes checking out different places, looking at menus, trying to get a feel for how this all worked when one of the massage girls got really aggressive with me.

She grabbed my hand and said, "come with me, massage with me!" and started pulling me towards the shop she worked at. Honestly, I had no idea what to do, I was like a deer in the headlights and I didn't want to be rude, so I just decided to go with it.

She walked me past the nice salon on the corner that I thought was her salon and proceeded to take me down a back alleyway and into a dim lite shop. "Sh*t, this cannot be good," I thought to myself.

Uneasy and not sure what to do, she led me up the stairs, down a hallway, and into a room with a mat on the floor.

She shut the door behind us and waited in the corner of the room for me to get undressed. I stood there awkwardly for a few moments not sure what the hell I had just got myself into when she said something I couldn't understand and made a gesture to take my clothes off.

"Is she just gonna stand there and watch me get undressed?" I thought to myself.

I was clearly in over my head, but at this point, I didn't want to be rude and walk out so I stripped down to my boxers and laid down on the mat. She looked at me confused and said, "this too, this too!" pointing at my boxers.

I couldn't believe it, she was telling me to take my boxers off to. "This is not good," I thought.

At this point, I honestly had no idea what was going on, or what I should do. Maybe this was common? I didn't want to be rude, or weird so I stood back up, grabbed a towel that was hanging on the wall, and wrapped it around my waist.

With the towel around my waist, I took my boxers off and laid back down. She started massaging my shoulders, back, legs, etc. All was going well, the message was average at best, and I was a bit uncomfortable, but nothing weird was going on, so I was good.

That all changed as soon as she told me to turn over and lay on my back. With the towel still wrapped around my waist, she began massaging my feet and quickly worked her way up to my knees and thighs.

Her hands moved higher and higher on my inner thighs, and my heart started to beat faster, and faster. That's when it happened, with both of her hands on my inner thighs, she looked at me and said, "You want the special?"

"Huh?"

"The special?"

The look on my face must have been priceless. At that moment, I genuinely had no idea what the heck she was asking. I was like a schoolboy who just touched a boob for the first time, I had no idea what I was going to happen next.

Confused herself, she said, "You know, the SPECIAL!" while simultaneously making a jerking off gesture with her hand.

"You know, the SPECIAL!" 😈

With unease written all over my face, I held my hands up and muttered "Umm...ummm.. no, thank you! No thank you!"

Now she was even more confused! "What do you mean no special?"

Then she reached under my towel, grabbed my d*ck, and with a completely straight face said, "I think he wants! I think he wants!"

I couldn't believe it, I was shocked! Shaking my head and holding my hands up, I said, "no, no, he doesn't want! He doesn't want!"

After a few moments, she let go of "him" and finished my massage. As I was putting my close back on she looked and me and said...

"Let me tell you secret... Me no good at massage, very good at the special! If you want massage, go to the old lady at the beach. If you want the special, you come to me!"

In hindsight, I was so nervous and uneasy it's comical. Here I was, on the other side of the world having the time of my life and in complete despair at the idea of this chick giving me a happy ending. I was so shaken up, I actually referred to my d*ck in the 3rd person.

"He doesn't want, he doesn't want! 😂😂😂

To this day, this was one of the funniest experiences of my life. At the time, I had no idea what the heck to do, but that's part of what makes it so damn funny.

How It Came Together

A few weeks ago, I was on YouTube searching for "funny commercials" looking for creative ideas and some inspiration when I came across an old Fox Commercial. In the commercial, there was a guy getting a massage and he was begging the girl giving him a massage to "please do it."

The commercial was implying he wanted a happy ending. She finally agreed to "do it" and she walked over to a TV in the corner and turned on Fox Sports. It was an "ah-ha" moment and the idea for "The Special" was born.

Final Thoughts

Scripting videos, finding locations to shoot, getting talent, etc can be a pretty stressful process and at the end of it all, you really have no idea what the end result is going to be until you edit the footage and hit publish.

Sometimes it's gold, and sometimes it just doesn't turn out the way you expected. Regardless of what happens, we love creating videos and finding new and creative new ways to make you laugh. We pushed the limits with this one a bit, but in the end, I think it turned out great.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your honest thoughts and feedback below! Was this one too much? Over the top? Drop us a comment and let us hear it. Have an amazing day and until next time, Live Bearded brother!
