10 Things We Have Learned In 10 Years To Help You Grow A Better Beard
A decade ago we started with a simple mission, to help beardsmen look, feel, and be their best, by creating beard care products using only the best natural ingredients we could find, and making sure we made them all right here in the USA.
And after 10 years of doing this every single day, we have learned a lot about what the difference is between growing a beard you are truly proud of, and looking in the mirror every day frustrated.
So here it is, the top 10 things we have learned in a decade to help you grow a better beard:
1. Stop Comparing Your Beard to Other Men
Your beard is uniquely yours.
The guy with straight hair wishes he had curls. The guy with tight curls wishes it grew straight. The guy with density wishes it grew faster. The guy with length wishes it was thicker.
Rock what you’ve got. Find the style that gives you confidence and lean into it.
Confidence will always beat comparison.
2. Beard Growth Starts With Healthy Skin
Healthy beard growth begins below the surface.
If your skin is dry, irritated, inflamed, or neglected, your beard will struggle. Drink more water, eat real food, get your vitamins, get sunlight, and use a natural beard oil that will keep your skin from drying out.
The foundation matters. If you want healthy crops, you need healthy soil, and if you want a healthy beard you need healthy skin.

3. Beard Oil Is For Your Skin, Not Your Beard
This is one of the biggest misconceptions out there.
Beard oil is designed for the skin under your beard. Not just the hair.
As your beard grows, it pulls natural oils away from your face. That often leads to dryness and itch. A few drops of beard oil massaged into the skin daily creates the environment your beard needs to thrive.
If you deal with itch, it is usually dry skin. Oil fixes that.
4. Wash and Condition Your Beard the Right Way
You wash and condition the hair on your head right? So why wouldn't you do the same for the hair on your face!
But don't use bar soap, body wash, or regular shampoo. The skin on your face is different than your scalp and body.
Use a beard-specific wash and conditioner so you can get clean without stripping away the oils your beard needs.
Clean is good, but dried out, itchy, and irritated only works if you are trying to use your beard to repel predators.

5. Trimming Too Early Kills Growth
This one is huge.
A beard grows about half an inch per month. If you trim it every week, you are constantly resetting progress.
If you want length, put the trimmers down. Let it grow six to twelve weeks before shaping it up. Clean up sideburns if you need to stay sharp, but give your beard time to catch up.
Patience wins.
6. Brushing Daily Improves Growth
Using a boar hair brush daily increases circulation to your face.
Circulation means blood flow. Blood flow brings nutrients to your follicles. Nutrients support stronger growth.
Brush down. Brush up. Brush in circles. Exfoliate the skin and distribute product.
It takes two minutes and makes a real difference.

7. You Cannot Wear a Hat on Your Beard
You can hide messy hair with a hat. You cannot hide a messy beard.
Take a couple minutes before you walk out the door. Oil it. Butter it. Comb it. Style it.
No excuses. It takes three to five minutes. Show up presentable.
8. Every Beardsman Should Learn to Trim
Barbers are great. You should use them.
But you cannot rely on someone else every time you need to look sharp. Every man should have a good beard trimmer, and the basic knowledge to trim themselves, and if you need some help we have a ton of tutorials on our YouTube channel or our blog to help you learn to trim like a pro.
Invest in the right tools and practice. It saves money and keeps you in control.
9. Patchy Today Does Not Mean Patchy Forever
Genetics matter, but routine matters more than most guys realize.
We have seen thousands of men think they were stuck with a beard they weren't happy with only to watch it fill in over time when they consistently use the right routine.
Stick to your routine. Give it time. Let it grow. As length increases, coverage improves.
Patience and discipline pay off.

10. Beard Grooming Is Self-Respect
This is not vanity.
Taking five minutes to groom your beard is an act of self-respect. It is showing up intentionally. It is choosing to care.
When you walk out the door knowing you look sharp, you carry yourself differently.
That small win builds momentum for the rest of your day.
The Simple Routine That Ties It All Together
A better beard does not come from random products. It comes from a proven system used consistently over time.
Here is the routine we recommend to every beardsman.
Step 1: Wash and Condition
Rinse your beard with water. Apply a quarter-sized amount of beard wash and work it in thoroughly. Rinse completely.
Follow with beard conditioner. Work it through and let it sit for one to two minutes before rinsing.
Wash two to three times per week, or more if you sweat or get dirty daily.
Step 2: Apply Beard Oil
Use five to seven drops. Massage it into the skin under your beard first.
Healthy skin creates healthy growth. This is your daily foundation.
Step 3: Use Beard Butter
Scoop out a dime-sized amount. Melt it in your palms and work it through your beard.
This softens, conditions, and gives light control so your beard looks intentional and put together.
