A Damn Good Day With Some Very Good Dogs

Actions Over Words In Action

At Live Bearded, one of our core values is simple. Actions over words.

It is easy to say what you stand for. It means a whole lot more when you actually go live it out.

That is why our team stepped out of the office and spent the morning volunteering at the Arizona Humane Society, hanging out with some four-legged friends who could use a little extra love, attention, and playtime.

Why We Went

We are always looking for ways to serve our local community in real, practical ways.

This time, that meant spending a few hours with dogs at a local ethical no-kill shelter that cares for neglected, abused, and abandoned animals. These dogs have been through a lot, and getting to show up for them in even a small way meant something to us.

We brought toys. We brought treats. And we brought our time.

Honestly, that last one matters most.

More Than Just A Visit

A lot of the dogs we spent time with are up for adoption, and it was a pretty incredible experience getting to play with them, love on them, and give them some one-on-one attention.

There was no big agenda.

Just the team, a bunch of dogs, and a reminder that doing some good in your community doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it really is as simple as showing up.

What We Got Out Of It

Going in, the goal was to give back.

But like Spencer said in the video, we probably got just as much out of it as we gave.

There is something about stepping outside your normal routine and doing something for others that fills you back up too. It is good for the community. It is good for the soul. And it is a good reminder that serving does not always have to mean giving money.

Sometimes giving your time, your attention, and your energy can mean just as much.

A Challenge For You

If this inspires you, go find a way to get involved in your local community.

It doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't have to be expensive. It just has to be real.

Donate your time. Bring a few supplies. Volunteer somewhere local. Go do something that helps people, or animals, who could use a little extra care.

That stuff matters.

Final Thought

We are big believers that values should be lived, not just posted on a wall, or printed on a t-shirt.

This was one small way to do that, and we are grateful we got the chance.

Drop us a comment and let us know your favorite way to get involved in your own community, or if there are some other organizations you think we should get involved with supporting.
