There was once a young man who wanted to be rich and successful.

So he goes to see a wise guru who holds the ultimate secret to success.

The young man says to the teacher, “I want to be on the same level you are on. I want to be successful and wealthy. What is the secret?”

The guru smiled and said, “Meet me at the beach tomorrow at 4 a.m. and I will tell you the secret to success.”

The young man was confused. But the next morning, he showed up at the beach at 4 a.m. just as the guru said.

The guru sees the young man and tells him to come in the water.

“So tell me the secret,” the young man demands.

The guru says, “Sure,” and forces the young man’s head under the water.

The young man struggled and felt like he was fighting for his life. Just before he was about to pass out and lose consciousness, the guru pulled the young man back up, who began to gasp for air.

The guru immediately asks the young man a question.

“When your head was under water, what did you want to do?”

The young man was still visibly shocked and only now beginning to catch his breath.

“I wanted to breathe!” the young man shouted.

What the guru said next changed the young man’s life forever.

“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
